“We’ll Take You by the Hand and Help You Write and Publish Your First Professional-Level Travel Story”
Dear writer,
Breaking into travel writing has never been easy, but lately things feel like it just got even harder.
If you’re frustrated with vague rejections, sick of being ghosted by editors, or still working up the courage to send through your first pitch, we’re here to help.
We’ll show you exactly what editors are looking for, and personally coach you to develop a professional, fully-realized travel article.
Together, we’ll work on your travel article, with feedback and helpful guidance to help you find your voice and craft something that editors cannot resist.
At the end of the journey, provided you’ve followed our guidance and take edits on board, your article will be accepted for publication at Intrepid Times!
Lots of Feedback. Personal Support. And a (very) Small Group of Like-Minded Writers. Here's how it works:
We’ve refined a simple yet comprehensive and engaging process to help you get on the fast-track to publication:
Step #1: Apply to Join and Begin Your Journey
We want to make sure we are only working with writers who share our values and have a realistic chance of success. There is no limit on age or background, and you do not need to have any writing experience (although it’s fine if you do). The application process is simple, and is explained in detail below.
Step #2: Get Accepted, Register and Access Your Student Area and Networking Group
We will process applications quickly and grant selected students access to a private student area. There, you’ll get instant access to bonus materials to give you an early boost on your travel writing journey, as well as instructions on how to join our private WhatsApp group to network and share experience with your fellow writers.
Upon registration, get instant access to bonuses including:
- AI and Travel Writing – Our Policy and the Truth Travel Writers Need to know
- Essential Skills PDF Guide: Captivate Readers and Editors with a Perfect First Paragraph
- Essential Skills PDF Guide: Travel Stories vs. Travel Guides – Know What You’re Writing

- Essential Skills PDF Guide: Building Your Platform – Create a Following for Your Travel Stories
- Bonus Workshop Audio and Video Recording: Find Your Irreplaceable Voice
Step #3: Master Travel Writing Fundamentals Through Four Hands-On Workshops
Choose the schedule that works for you (or learn at your own pace via the recordings and notes) and master the keys to travel writing through four hands-on, small-group workshops. Ask questions, and learn clear, proven techniques that demystify why some stories get published and others don’t, what editors are looking for, and how to pitch and present yourself and your writing like a professional.
- Workshop #1: The Art and Tactics of Irresistible Travel Storytelling.
- Workshop #2: Relevance, Newsworthiness, and Making Your Stories Matter.
- Workshop #3: Writing that Compels; Mistakes to Avoid and How to Edit Like a Pro.
- Workshop #4: Professional Practice; Pitching, Following-Up, and Making Your Name as a Travel Writer.
Each workshop will last about 60 minutes, including time for Q&A. Workshops will be recorded and include detailed notes with real-world examples for inspiration.
Step #4: Develop Your Story with Personal Feedback and Support.
Now that you know how to write a good travel story, it’s time to put your newfound skills into practice. It’s time for brainstorming, writing, and feedback! Work with an editor from Intrepid Times to brainstorm ideas, sharpen your pitch, and start working towards your publishable travel story! During this time you will have access to fast and constructive on-demand feedback. We will answer your questions, help you find your strengths, and coach you to remove any obstacles to publication.
Note: If you take the ordinary schedule, we are happy to support you to begin the writing and editing process alongside the workshops, though there is no pressure to do so. You will have one month after the final workshop to complete your short-form travel story, with extensions available in special circumstances.
Step #5: Celebrate, Share Your Story, and See Your Work Published!
Celebration and publication! We’ll gather for one last group meeting focused on answering any big picture questions about the travel writing career. We’ll also give the braver members of the group the option to read a selection from your complete travel story with your fellow writers. Stories from group members will be published on Intrepid Times and shared with our community of thousands of travel writers around the world.
