Andrew Benc is an English doctor who decided that life as a conventional medic in the National Health Service was not for him. On a whim, he went off to work in Jamaica and quickly found that working and living in a foreign country was a lot more interesting and fun than it was at home. Having set off, planning to travel for just a couple of years, he got hooked, and three decades and several continents later, he was still sleeping under mosquito nets and pleading with local taxi drivers to slow down.
